City’s director of football discussed the opening months in an official club video interview published on 7th October. City are the only WSL side with a 100% record at this stage, according to the club.
Therese Sjögran on keeping the level
“I think the start has been really good,” Sjögran said. She praised how the players had handled starting again after the previous season’s success.
“We have a big squad so we need to find the right rotations and so on. But at the moment, we are performing on a very high level.”
Her remarks are an assessment of the opening run, not a guarantee of another title. The rotation point also matters as league and European fixtures share the calendar.
City Women back in Europe
City opened their Women’s Champions League campaign with a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich and a 1-1 draw at home to Real Madrid.
The interview, published by City Studios on the club website, also covered the summer transfer business she led as director of football.
Therese Sjögran said the club wants to compete against Europe’s best teams, adding: “We need to take one game at a time but of course the Champions League night is special in many ways.”
The interview is available through City’s official video page below.
