Erling Haaland scored twice, but Manchester City lost 4-2 to PSG after conceding three first-half goals at the Etihad Stadium.
Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha scored before half-time. Haaland pulled one back in the 53rd minute, but Maghnes Akliouche restored PSG’s three-goal advantage before the City striker scored again in the 75th minute.
City kept the game alive with their second-half response, and Gianluigi Donnarumma saved a late Ferran Torres penalty. The final whistle still brought a 4-2 defeat, confirmed by BBC Sport’s full-time match record.
City concede three before Erling Haaland response
PSG struck twice in the opening 15 minutes. Doue scored in the 13th minute following an assist from Fabian Ruiz, before Dembele added the second two minutes later with Doue providing the assist.
That left City chasing the game early. Vitinha made the task harder in the 32nd minute, with Warren Zaire-Emery credited as the provider, and PSG reached half-time 3-0 ahead.
The score put a heavy demand on Erling Haaland and City’s attack after the break. Even a much stronger second half would require several goals against a PSG side that had already shown how quickly it could punish them.
Erling Haaland scores twice after the break
Erling Haaland began City’s response with a goal in the 53rd minute. Iliman Ndiaye supplied the assist as City reduced the deficit to two goals.
PSG answered in the 62nd minute. Akliouche scored from Dembele’s assist to make it 4-1, undoing the immediate gain from Haaland’s first goal and leaving City with another large gap to close.
Erling Haaland scored again in the 75th minute, this time with Ayyoub Bouaddi providing the assist. The striker’s second goal made it 4-2 and ensured the game remained competitive into the closing stages.
City’s second-half scoring was a response to the first-half problems, but it did not erase them. Akliouche’s goal meant the visitors still had room to withstand Haaland’s double.
Donnarumma saves Torres penalty
With Erling Haaland’s double keeping City in the game, the closing stages brought another test for their goalkeeper. Donnarumma saved a Torres penalty, with BBC Sport’s live report recording the miss at 21:50 BST.

That save stopped PSG from adding a fifth, but City could not find the goals required at the other end. The match finished 2-4 despite their improved second-half return.
The City perspective is clear in the scoring sequence: Haaland supplied two goals after the break, but conceding three before half-time and another between his strikes left too much to recover.
